Sections

Sections in Local: every section you can add with Add section, its presets and the page that documents it.

Sections are the building blocks of your pages. Local has 37 sections you can add with Add section, in 45 presets, and you can use them on any page in any combination to build your own templates.

Where to find it: Online Store → Themes → Customize → open a page → Add section

Most sections share the same heading, design, SEO and visibility settings, explained once in General section styling. The product grids (Featured collection, Products list, Shop the look, the collection and search pages) are built from the same blocks, explained in Product grid blocks. The four Flex sections hold theme blocks you can arrange freely, see Flex sections.

A preset is a ready-made version of a section. Some sections have several presets with different starting blocks (for example the Table section has four). Presets only set the starting content: after you add one, every setting of the section is available.

A few sections are not in this list because they cannot be added with Add section:

The Events calendar preset is a Content toggles section with toggles you write by hand. It is not connected to your events blog. For events with dates from blog posts, use the Events list section and see Events calendar.

Why can't I find a section in Add section?

Because it is not a section you can add. Some sections only exist in one template (for example the Product grid of the collection page), some sit in the header or footer group, and Slideshow (legacy) has no preset any more. Check the list above, and use the search box at the top of Add section.

Exit intent popup

The Exit intent popup section of Local opens a popup on desktop when the customer moves the mouse to the top of the page to leave.
