Scrolling images section

The Scrolling images section of Local scrolls a row of images across the page, with optional links.

Applies to: Local 4.2.1 and later. Added in: Local 2.6.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Local 4.2.1.

The Scrolling images section moves a row of images across the page in an endless loop, each with an optional caption and link. Use it for a gallery strip, a row of brand pictures or an Instagram-style band.

Where to find it: Online Store → Themes → Customize → Add section → Scrolling images

Content

  • Desktop layout sets how many images fit the width of the page on desktop: 2 to 6 (default 3). The layout adapts on smaller screens.
  • Scroll direction sets where the row moves: Left (default; new images enter from the right) or Right.
  • Scroll speed sets the speed, 20 to 300 (default 100), in pixels per second on desktop. Phones scroll at two thirds of that speed.
  • Pause on mouseover (on by default) stops the row while the mouse is over it.
  • Image position lines up images of different heights at the Top (default), Center or Bottom of the row.
  • Border radius rounds the image corners, 0 to 200 px (default 0).
  • Remove space between images puts the images edge to edge.
  • Caption alignment aligns the captions Left (default), Center or Right.

Text color under Section design colors the heading and captions. The other settings are the standard ones, see General section styling.

Image blocks

Add one Image block per image.

  • Image is the picture, shown at its own proportions.
  • Caption is a short line under the image (bold, italic and links allowed).
  • Link makes the image clickable. Open link in a new window opens the link in a new tab.

How do I make the images scroll slower?

Lower Scroll speed, for example to 50, and keep Pause on mouseover on so customers can stop the row to look.
