Apps section
The Apps section of Local holds app blocks from the apps you install, inside the theme layout, on any page.
Applies to: Local 4.2.1 and later. Added in: Local 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Local 4.2.1.
The Apps section holds app blocks from the apps you install, such as reviews, Instagram feeds or forms, inside a section with the theme's heading and spacing. Add it on any page where an app should appear.
Where to find it: Online Store → Themes → Customize → Add section → Apps
Adding an app block
Install the app
Install the app from the Shopify App Store. Apps that support theme app blocks add them to the theme editor automatically.
Add the section
In the theme editor, open the page, select Add section and choose Apps.

Select Add block inside the Apps section and choose the app block. Set it up with the app's own settings.
Section settings
- Heading, Subheading and Text alignment add an optional heading above the app.
- Full width lets the app use the whole screen width.
- Remove top margin removes the space above the section.
- Heading tag (under SEO) sets the heading level, see General section styling.
Why can I not find my app in Add block?
Because the app does not offer an app block, or it is an app embed. App embeds are turned on in the App embeds panel of the theme editor (the app icon in the left sidebar), not in a section. Check the app's documentation for how it adds content to the theme.

The Apps section uses the standard Heading settings, listed in General section styling. In this section the group has only Heading, Subheading and Text alignment.

Where to find it: Apps → Section design
The Apps section uses the standard Section design settings, listed in General section styling. In this section the group has only Full width and Remove top margin.
Full width (checkbox, default: off).
Remove top margin (checkbox, default: off).

The Apps section uses the standard SEO settings, listed in General section styling.
Heading tag (dropdown, default: H2): Specify heading level to help search engines index the structure of your page. Options: H1, H2, H3, H4, span.
