Blocks
Blocks in Local: the theme blocks you add inside Flex sections, what each one is for, and the page that documents it.
Applies to: Local 4.2.1 and later. Added in: Local 2.7.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Local 4.2.1.
Theme blocks are the small building pieces (heading, text, button, image and so on) that you add and arrange freely inside Local's Flex sections. Each one has its own page with its settings.
Where to find it: Online Store → Themes → Customize → select a card, slide or column of a Flex section → Add block
Which block do I use?
- Titles and text: Heading for titles, Caption for a short line or a badge, Text for paragraphs and lists.
- Actions: Button to link to a page, Quick buy button to sell one product.
- Images: Image for icons and logos at a fixed height.
- Social proof: Star rating for a hand-set star rating with a caption.
- Layout: Content group to put buttons, images or captions side by side, Divider for a line, Empty space for extra space.
- Code: Custom Liquid for your own Liquid or HTML.
Where can I use theme blocks?
Theme blocks go inside these containers:
- The Image slides of the Flex slideshow.
- The Text card of the Flex grid.
- The Card of Flex cards.
- The Column of Flex columns and of the Table section.
- The Content group block, which takes only Button, Image, Caption and Quick buy button.
App blocks from your apps can go in the same places. The other sections of Local (Rich text, Promotion cards, the product page and so on) have their own blocks with their own settings, documented on each section page.

Can I use theme blocks in other sections?
No. Only the Flex sections and the Table section accept theme blocks (the Event page's Actions block also takes the Button block). Other sections have their own blocks, which may have the same names (Heading, Text, Button) but different settings. To mix free blocks with other content, add a Flex section next to it.
