Customer account pages

The customer account pages of Local: login, register, account, addresses, orders, activation and password reset for classic customer accounts.

Applies to: Local 4.2.1 and later. Added in: Local 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Local 4.2.1.

The customer account pages are the theme's pages for Shopify's classic customer accounts: login, registration, the account overview with the order history, addresses, an order's details, account activation and password reset. They use your store's fonts and colors.

Where to find it: in the theme editor, open the template picker and select Customer account pages, then the page: Login, Register, Account, Addresses, Order, Activate account or Reset password.

Classic and new customer accounts

Shopify offers two kinds of customer accounts, and you choose one in Shopify admin → Settings → Customer accounts.

  • Classic customer accounts use the pages documented here, built by the theme.
  • New customer accounts (Shopify's customer accounts, without passwords) are pages hosted by Shopify. The theme's account pages are not used; you style them in Shopify admin → Settings → Customer accounts → Customize. Since Local 3.2.0 the header shows Shopify's account icon, which opens a sign-in sheet with the login options and an account menu.

Customer accounts are controlled by Shopify, not by Local.

Login page

The Login page has the sign-in form and links to create an account and recover a password.

  • Enable Sign in with Shop adds Shopify's "Sign in with Shop" button under the login button, so customers can sign in with their Shop account. It needs Shop as a sign-in option in Shopify admin → Settings → Customer accounts.

The other customer account pages have no settings.

Why do customers not see these pages?

Because your store uses the new customer accounts, or customer accounts are turned off. With new customer accounts, Shopify shows its own login and account pages instead of these templates. With accounts turned off in Shopify admin → Settings → Customer accounts, the header has no account link. The header's account icon appears only when customer accounts are on; see Header section.
