Event ticket page

The Event ticket page of Local is the product template of a ticket product; it opens in a popup from the Buy ticket button of an event.

Applies to: Local 4.2.1 and later. Added in: Local 4.2.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Local 4.2.1.

The Event ticket page is the popup that opens from the Buy ticket button of an event when the ticket product has variants, for example Adult and Child tickets. Customers choose the ticket type and quantity there and add the tickets to the cart. It is the event-ticket product template, with one section, Event ticket.

Where to find it: in the theme editor, open the template picker and select Products → event-ticket, then select Event ticket.

Local 4.2.1 does not include the event-ticket product template in its theme files, and the theme editor cannot create it: its section cannot be added with Add section. Without it, the Buy ticket button cannot open the ticket popup. If the template picker has no Products → event-ticket template, contact Krown support.

The popup loads the ticket product through this template, whatever template the product itself uses. Do not assign event-ticket to your ticket products: their own page would then open in the popup layout.

Functionality

Select the first available variant by default (on by default) preselects the first ticket type in stock. When it is off, customers must choose a ticket type before they can add to cart.

Product blocks

The popup shows only product blocks, without a gallery. These blocks are available, and documented on the product page block pages:

In this popup the Variant picker's Inventory notification speaks of tickets: "1 ticket left", "5 tickets left", "Tickets available" or "No tickets left". Its Variant picker has no Metaobject swatch metafields setting.

Creating the ticket product

Create the product

In Shopify admin, open Products → Add product. Name it after the event, for example "Street Food Festival ticket", and set the price.

Add ticket types (optional)

Add an option, for example "Ticket", with one value per type: Adult, Child, VIP. Set each variant's price.

Set the number of tickets

Turn on inventory tracking and set the quantity of each variant to the number of seats. When the tickets run out, the event's Buy ticket button shows "Sold out".

Open the event post and select the product in its event product metafield. The Buy ticket block of the event page reads it from there; see Event page.

A custom property such as "Attendee name" can collect the name of each ticket holder: add a Custom property block to the event-ticket template and turn on Required.

Why does Buy ticket add the ticket without a popup?

Because the ticket product has only one variant and Always open product modal is off in the Buy ticket block. Local then adds the ticket straight to the cart. Turn on Always open product modal in Blog posts → event → Event → Actions → Buy ticket to always show the popup, for example to let customers choose a quantity.
