Custom Liquid block

The Custom Liquid block of Local adds your own Liquid or HTML code inside a Flex section.

Applies to: Local 4.2.1 and later. Added in: Local 2.7.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Local 4.2.1.

The Custom Liquid block adds your own Liquid or HTML code inside a Flex section card, slide or column, for example an app embed code, a metafield or a small widget. It is a theme block.

Where to find it: Online Store → Themes → Customize → select a Flex section card, slide or column → Add block → Custom Liquid

Adding code

  • Custom Liquid holds the code. It accepts HTML and Shopify Liquid, including objects such as product, collection or shop where they exist on the page.
  • An empty block shows nothing.

The code runs as you typed it. The theme does not check it, and a broken tag can break the layout of the card around it.

Krown support does not provide help with custom code. If the code comes from an app, ask the app developer; for your own code, see Custom CSS and code.

What is the difference between this block and the Custom HTML / Liquid section?

The block sits inside a card, slide or column, next to other blocks. The Custom HTML / Liquid section is a whole section on its own, with its own spacing and visibility settings. Use the section for code that needs the full page width.

Does my code stay after a theme update?

Yes. The code is saved in the block's setting, not in the theme files, so it moves with your templates when you update Local. Check it still works after an update, because the theme markup around it can change.
