Empty space block
The Empty space block of Local adds vertical space between blocks inside Flex sections.
Applies to: Local 4.2.1 and later. Added in: Local 2.7.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Local 4.2.1.
The Empty space block adds vertical space between two blocks, for example to push a button further down from the text above it. It is a theme block for Flex sections, their cards and slides, and Flex columns.
Where to find it: Online Store → Themes → Customize → select a Flex section card, slide or column → Add block → Empty space
Height
Height sets how much space the block adds:
- Small adds no height of its own. The block still counts as one more block, so it adds one more text-spacing gap.
- Medium adds 20 px plus that gap.
- Large adds 40 px plus that gap.
The gap between all blocks of a card is the card's Text spacing (Typography or Text style group of the Flex section). Change it there to space every block at once.
How do I add a lot of space?
Add two or three Empty space blocks set to Large, one after the other. For space above or below a whole section, use the section's Section design margins instead, see General section styling.
