Custom HTML / Liquid section

The Custom HTML / Liquid section of Local adds your own HTML, CSS, JavaScript or Liquid code as a section on any page.

Applies to: Local 4.2.1 and later. Added in: Local 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Local 4.2.1.

The Custom HTML / Liquid section adds your own code to any page: HTML, CSS, JavaScript or Shopify Liquid. Use it to embed a third-party widget, show a metafield or add a small custom element, without editing the theme files.

Where to find it: Online Store → Themes → Customize → Add section → Custom HTML / Liquid

Adding your code

  • Custom Liquid holds the code. It runs as you typed it, inside the page width (or the full screen width with Full width under Section design).
  • The section has the standard heading area above the code: Heading, Subheading, Text alignment and an optional section link. Leave them empty to show only your code.
  • Descrease top margin, Remove top margin and Section visibility work as in every section, see General section styling.

Liquid objects of the page are available: product on a product page, collection on a collection page, and shop, customer and request everywhere.

Does Krown support help with my custom code?

No. Krown support does not provide help with custom code, including code pasted into this section. If the code comes from an app or a service, ask its developer. For your own changes, see Custom CSS and code and Custom work and code changes.

Will my code survive a theme update?

Yes. The code is saved in the section's setting, in your template, not in the theme files, so it is kept when you update Local. Check that it still works after an update, because the theme markup and styles around it can change.

Why does my page look broken after I added code?

Because the code has an error, for example an HTML tag that is not closed, and it breaks the layout around the section. Remove the section or empty Custom Liquid to confirm, then fix the code. See Troubleshoot issues caused by custom code.
