Table section
The Table section of Local builds specification and feature tables from rows, columns, text and checkmark blocks, in four presets.
Applies to: Local 4.2.1 and later. Added in: Local 4.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Local 4.2.1.
The Table section builds tables for product specifications, nutrition details or feature comparisons. Each Table block is one table with a title and cells of text or checkmarks. It was added in Local 4.0.0 (changelog: "Specification table").
Where to find it: Online Store → Themes → Customize → Add section → Table: features list (v1), Table: features list (v2), Table: complex (v1) or Table: complex (v2)
Presets
The four presets are the same section with different starting tables:
- Table: features list (v2): two tables side by side, each a list of label and value rows.
- Table: features list (v1): two tables side by side, with the label and value cells in two columns.
- Table: complex (v2): one table with the title as a column on the left and three columns of cells, ending in checkmarks.
- Table: complex (v1): one comparison table with four columns (a feature name and three product versions) and checkmarks.
Layout
Desktop layout sets how many tables (and columns) sit side by side on desktop: 1 (default), 2 or 3. On phones they stack.
The heading, section design, SEO and visibility settings are the standard ones, see General section styling.
Table block
A Table block is one table.
- Text is the title of the table (default "Table title"), with Text size, Background color and Text color.
- Style sets where the title goes: Full width (a row across the top of the table) or Column (a column on the left of the cells).
- Blocks layout sets how many columns of cells the table has: 1 to 4 (default 3). The cells fill the columns from left to right, row by row, in the order of the blocks.
- Remove inline borders removes the lines between the cells; Remove heading borders (shown when the first is on) also removes the line under the title.
- Blocks background color, Blocks text color and Checkmark color color the cells.
- Border radius rounds the corners of the table, 0 to 30 px (default 10 px).
Text and checkmark cells
Inside a Table block, add one block per cell:
- Text is a cell with formatted text, for example "Ingredients" or "Natural ingredients with no artificial additives". Leave it empty for an empty cell.
- Checkmark is a cell with a check icon, colored by Checkmark color. It has no settings.
The Column block of the section holds any theme block (an image, a heading, a button) and sits next to the tables, like a column of Flex columns.
Setting up a comparison table
Add the section
Select Add section and choose Table: complex (v1). It starts with a four-column comparison table.
Set the columns
Select the Table block and set Blocks layout to the number of columns: the feature name plus one column per product or plan.
Fill the header row
Edit the first cells: leave the first one empty and type the product or plan names in the others.
Add one row per feature
For each feature, add a Text block with the feature name, then one Text or Checkmark block per column. Keep the number of cells per row equal to Blocks layout, or the rows shift.
Why are my table rows out of line?
Because a row has more or fewer cells than Blocks layout. The cells always fill the columns in order, so one missing cell moves every cell after it. Add an empty Text block where a value is missing.
Can the table read product metafields?
Yes, on a product template. Connect a Text cell's Text to a product metafield with the dynamic source button, so every product shows its own values. To compare several products side by side, use the Product comparison section instead.
