Custom HTML / Liquid section

The Custom HTML / Liquid section of Combine runs your own HTML or Liquid code on a page, with an optional section heading.

Applies to: Combine 4.2.0 and later. Added in: Combine 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Combine 4.2.0.

The Custom HTML / Liquid section runs your own HTML or Shopify Liquid code on a page, with an optional section heading above it. Use it for a third-party embed, a script that an app gives you, or content from metafields that no other section shows.

Where to find it: in the theme editor, select Add section and choose Custom HTML / Liquid.

Content

  • Paste your code into Custom Liquid. It takes HTML, Liquid tags and objects, CSS in a <style> tag and scripts.
  • Liquid works as in a theme file: shop, request, and on product pages product, are available.
  • The section shows nothing but its heading while Custom Liquid is empty.

The section adds custom features without modifying the theme's core code, so your code stays in place when you update Combine.

Design

  • Full width stretches the content to the edges of the screen. Without it, the content keeps the page width.
  • Remove top margin removes the space above the section.

The section heading and Heading tag work as described in General section styling.

Krown support does not provide help with custom code. A broken tag in this section can break the page layout; test the code in a duplicate of your theme first.

Does my custom code survive a theme update?

Yes. The code is a section setting, so Shopify keeps it in the page template when you update Combine. Code that depends on Combine's own CSS classes or scripts may need changes after an update, because those can change between versions.

When should I use the Custom Liquid block instead?

When the code belongs inside a card, next to headings and buttons. The Custom Liquid block sits inside a flex section slide, card or column; this section takes a full-width area of its own.
