Combine presets
Combine presets: compare Combine, Gadget, Blush, Ring and Bites, see what each theme style changes, and switch style without losing content.

Combine comes in five presets on the Shopify Theme Store: Combine, Gadget, Blush, Ring and Bites. This page compares them, explains what a preset changes and shows how to switch from one to another.
Where to find it: Theme settings → Theme style
Compare the presets
All five presets install the same theme files: the same sections, blocks, settings and templates. A preset only selects one of the five theme styles. The theme style sets the fonts, the colors and the values of some Theme settings.
| Preset | Headings font | Body font | Section titles font | Colors |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Combine | System sans-serif | System sans-serif | System sans-serif | White header and page, near-black footer |
| Gadget | DM Sans | DM Sans | DM Sans Medium | Near-black header and footer, white page |
| Blush | Instrument Serif | DM Sans | DM Sans Medium | White header and page, near-black footer |
| Ring | Instrument Serif | DM Sans | Instrument Serif | White header and page, near-black footer |
| Bites | Fraunces | DM Sans | Fraunces | Dark header and footer with gold text, cream page |
The fonts and colors are the values of each theme style in Combine 4.2.0. Each preset page lists the other settings it changes.
Theme style and Theme Store preset
- A Theme Store preset is the version of Combine you install from the Shopify Theme Store, for example Combine or Gadget. Every preset installs the same theme files and selects its own theme style.
- A theme style is a set of Theme settings values bundled in the theme. Every Combine install contains all five theme styles, and you can switch between them in the theme editor.
Choosing a theme style in your theme gives the same Theme settings as installing that preset.
What switching style changes
Switching style is a Shopify theme editor feature. It replaces your current Theme settings with the values saved in the new style.
- It changes the fonts, the colors, the layout values and the product card, badge, cart and other Theme settings groups.
- It does not change the sections and blocks you added to your page templates, or the content of your products and pages.
Switching style overwrites the Theme settings you changed yourself, for example your colors and fonts. Duplicate the theme in Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes before you switch, so you can go back.
Switch to another theme style
Duplicate your theme
Open Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes. On your Combine theme, open the … menu and select Duplicate. Work on the copy.
Open Theme style
Open the copy in the theme editor and open Theme settings → Theme style. Theme settings is the gear icon in the editor sidebar.
Choose the style
Select Combine, Gadget, Blush, Ring or Bites. The preview shows the new fonts and colors.
Save and publish
Select Save. Check the main pages, then publish the copy from Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes.
You do not need to install another preset from the Shopify Theme Store. Every preset installs the same theme files, so choosing the theme style is enough.
Does a preset include the demo store content?
No. Installing a preset does not add the products, images, sections or extra templates of its demo store on the Shopify Theme Store. Shopify does not copy demo content into a store. To build pages like the demos, see Rebuild a Combine demo store.
