Theme blocks

Theme blocks in Combine: the heading, text, button, image and other blocks you add inside flex sections and their cards.

Applies to: Combine 4.2.0 and later. Added in: Combine 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Combine 4.2.0.

Theme blocks are the small content pieces of Combine's flex sections: headings, text, buttons, images and a few more. You add them with Add block inside a slide, card or column, and drag them into any order.

This page lists every theme block and the page that documents its settings.

Where you can add theme blocks

Theme blocks go only inside the four flex sections, one level down, in their containers:

The containers also accept app blocks from your installed apps. Every other Combine section has its own section blocks, documented on that section's page; theme blocks cannot be added there. See Flex sections for how to build a layout.

Which block do I use?

Combine 4.2.0 has 11 theme blocks.

Can I add a theme block to any section?

No. Theme blocks can be added only inside the slides, cards and columns of Flex slideshow, Flex grid, Flex cards and Flex columns. Sections such as Rich text or Media with text overlay have their own blocks with similar names (Heading, Text, Button), which are part of that section and are set up on its page.
