Rebuild a Combine demo store

How to rebuild a Combine demo store: pick the matching preset, follow the demo setup videos and import the demo sliders into a page template.

Applies to: Combine 4.2.0 and later. Added in: Combine 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Combine 4.2.0.

Shopify does not copy the content of a theme demo into your store: installing Combine gives you the theme, not the demo's products, images and pages. This page shows how to rebuild a demo: pick the closest theme style, follow the demo setup videos, and import the demo sliders.

Where to find it: Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes → Customize, then Theme settings → Theme style.

Which preset matches which demo

  • Combine has five presets on the Shopify Theme Store: Combine, Gadget, Blush, Ring and Bites. Each preset is a theme style: fonts, colors and Theme settings values. See Combine presets.
  • The demo setup videos below were recorded in 2024 for the earlier Combine demos Beauty, Objects, Restaurant and Books. Those demo names are not the current preset names.
  • The videos show an older version of Combine, so some labels and sections differ from Combine 4.2.0. The section pages of these docs describe the current settings.

Rebuild a demo

Pick the closest theme style

Duplicate your theme, then open Theme settings → Theme style in the copy and select the style closest to the demo. This replaces your Theme settings values, not your sections.

Watch the demo video

Watch the video of the demo below and note its sections, in order.

Add the same sections

In the theme editor, add the same sections in the same order with Add section, and set them up as the video shows. Each section page of these docs explains its settings.

Add the sliders

For a demo slider, import it as described in "Import demo sliders", or start from the lookbook or testimonials page template, which already contain Slider (vertical) sections.

Replace the demo content

Replace every image, text and product with your own.

Import demo sliders

The demo sliders are page templates with Slider (vertical) sections, shared as text files on Pastebin. The video shows the import.

The simplest start needs no import: Combine already ships the lookbook and testimonials page templates, which contain Slider (vertical) sections. See Alternate page templates.

Duplicate your theme

In Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes, select … → Duplicate on your theme and work on the copy.

Copy the slider

Open the Pastebin link of the slider and copy the whole text.

Create a page template

In Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes, select … → Edit code on the copy. Under Templates, select Add a new template, choose page and JSON, and give it a name, for example beauty-slider.

Paste the slider

Replace the whole content of the new file with the copied text and select Save.

Use the template on a page

Open Shopify admin → Online Store → Pages, open a page and select the new template under Theme template. Save.

Replace the images and texts

Open the template in the theme editor (Pages → your template) and select an image for every Image block, then rewrite the texts.

Importing a template is a code editor task. Work on a duplicate of your theme: Krown support helps with the theme settings, not with edited theme files. The sliders were made with older Combine versions; the Restaurant slider uses block types that Slider (vertical) no longer has in 4.2.0, so Shopify may refuse the file or drop those blocks.

Why can I not copy the demo content into my store?

Shopify does not allow it. A theme from the Shopify Theme Store installs only the theme files and its settings; the demo's products, images, menus and pages belong to the demo store. Rebuild the pages with the steps above and your own content.

Why are the images missing after I import a slider?

The slider files name the image files of the Krown demo store, and your store has no files with those names. Every Image block of the imported template is empty until you pick an image of your own in the theme editor.
