Alternate page templates

The alternate page templates of Combine: contact, FAQ, kit builder, lookbook, sale and testimonials, what each contains and how to use one.

Applies to: Combine 4.2.0 and later. Added in: Combine 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Combine 4.2.0.

Combine ships six ready page templates besides the default page: contact, faq, kit-builder, lookbook, sale and testimonials. Each one is a set of sections with sample content. You assign a template to a page in Shopify admin, then change its sections in the theme editor.

Where to find it: Online Store → Themes → Customize → template picker → Pages → the template name.

The templates have no settings of their own. Every section in them is documented on its own page, linked below.

Assigning a template to a page

Open the page

In Shopify admin, open Online Store → Pages and select the page, or select Add page.

Choose the template

Under Theme template, select the template, for example faq. Save.

Edit the template

In the theme editor, open the template picker and select Pages → the same template. Changes there apply to every page that uses this template.

The kit-builder, lookbook, sale and testimonials templates have their Main page section hidden. The page title and the content you write in Shopify admin do not show until you show the Main page section again (the eye icon next to it in the theme editor).

Contact page

The contact template has the Main page section (the page title and content) and a Contact form section. Messages go to your store's sender email.

FAQ page

The faq template has the Main page section and a Content toggles section with three sample questions and a contact form next to them. Add one Content block per question. Turn on Enable structured data in the Content toggles section to give search engines the questions as FAQ data.

Kit builder page

The kit-builder template sells several kits on one page. It has:

  • a hidden Main page section, with a custom page header from the custom.cover_image page metafield ready,
  • a Media with text overlay section banner with the title "Build Your Kit",
  • four Products set sections ("Mix, Match & Save!", "The Ultimate Kit", "The Vital Set", "The Premium Set") with sample offers and no products.

Each set needs its products and a matching Shopify discount. The steps are on Discounts and bundles: Building a kit page. Each set holds at most 4 products; the other limits are in Limits to know.

Lookbook page

The lookbook template has two Slider (vertical) sections, each with images and text layered over a background with parallax scrolling, and a Featured collection section in a grid with quick buy. Select the collection in the Featured collection section and replace the slider images with your own. To start from a demo store slider instead, see Rebuild a Combine demo store.

Sale page

The sale template has a Countdown section ("Flash Sale"), a Featured product section, an Email signup section and a Featured collection section.

The sample countdown ends on 2023-12-01, so it shows 00 in every field. Set End year, End month, End day and End hour in the Countdown clock block to the end of your sale.

Testimonials page

The testimonials template has one Slider (vertical) section with twelve text layers for customer quotes and three images, and a Featured collection section with rating.

Can I create my own page template?

Yes. In the theme editor, open the template picker, select Pages → Create template and base it on an existing template. Shopify saves it as a new template that you can assign to pages. Creating templates is a Shopify feature; see Shopify's help page Templates.

Why does my page not show the text I wrote in Shopify admin?

Because the template's Main page section is hidden or removed. The kit-builder, lookbook, sale and testimonials templates hide it by default. Show the Main page section in the theme editor, or assign the default page template. See Regular page.

Can I use the demo store templates, such as a bundle builder page?

No, not from the theme install. The demo stores use extra templates that are not part of Combine. The six templates on this page, the default page and the product and collection templates are what every install contains. Build similar pages from the same sections, for example a Products bundle section on a new page template.
