Article page

The Article page template of Combine: the article with its featured image, the cross-selling product block, navigation and comments.

Applies to: Combine 4.2.0 and later. Added in: Combine 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Combine 4.2.0.

The Article page shows one blog article. The template has three sections: Article (the image, title and text), Article navigation (links to other articles) and Article comments.

Where to find it: Online Store → Themes → Customize → template picker → Blog posts → Default blog post.

Article blocks

The Article section is built from blocks, in their order. The template starts with Featured image, Title and Content.

  • Shows the article image. Media aspect ratio keeps its own shape (Natural) or crops it. Media border radius rounds the corners.
  • Show date, Show author, Show comments number and Show tags add those details near the image.

Title

  • Shows the article title as the page heading.

Content

  • Shows the article text. Social share buttons adds share links. Show tags lists the article tags under the text. Show back link adds a link back to the blog.

Cross selling product

  • Shows one product with a variant dropdown and an add to cart button, inside the article (since Combine 2.4.0). Use it to sell the product the article talks about.
  • Title is the line above it (default "Recommended product"). Select product is the product; connect it to an article metafield (dynamic source) for a different product per article.
  • Container background is Primary or Secondary. Hide block if dynamic content is not present hides the block when no product is selected.

Article navigation

The Article navigation section shows other articles as cards under the article, under the Heading "More articles".

  • By default it shows the previous and the next article of the blog. Previous post and Next post replace them with the articles you choose.
  • Show featured image, Media aspect ratio and Media border radius set the card images.
  • The blocks Title, Info (date, author, comments number), Excerpt, Article link and Tags set what each card shows, as on the Blog page.

Article comments

The Article comments section shows the comments and the comment form, when comments are turned on for the blog.

  • Container background is Primary or Secondary.

Comments are a Shopify setting: turn them on, and choose whether they need approval, in the blog's settings in Shopify admin (Blog posts → Manage blogs → the blog).

Can the header be transparent over the article image?

Yes. In the Header section, under Transparent header design, turn on Enable on article pages (since Combine 4.0.0). See Header section.
