Blog page
The Blog page template of Combine lists the articles of a blog with the title, info, excerpt, article link and tags blocks.
Applies to: Combine 4.2.0 and later. Added in: Combine 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Combine 4.2.0.
The Blog page lists the articles of one blog as cards, with pagination. Each card is built from blocks: title, info, excerpt, article link and tags.
Where to find it: Online Store → Themes → Customize → template picker → Blogs → Default blog → Main blog.
Layout
- Enable filtering by tags shows the tags of the blog as filters, so customers can list only the articles with one tag.
- Desktop layout shows the cards in 1 or 2 columns. The layout adapts itself on mobile.
- Number of posts per page sets how many articles show before the pagination, from 4 to 12 (default 6).
Blog post card
- Show featured image shows the article image on each card.
- Media aspect ratio sets the image shape. Media border radius rounds its corners.
Blocks
The blocks set what each card shows, in their order.
Title
- Shows the article title, linked to the article.
Info
- Shows details under the title: Show date, Show author and Show comments number.
Excerpt
- Shows the article excerpt you wrote in Shopify admin. Without one, it shows the start of the article; Number of words sets its length (5 to 40).
Article link
- Adds a link to the article. Button label sets its text (default "Read more").
Tags
- Shows the article tags. Maximum number of shown tags sets how many, from 2 to 8.
How do I show a blog on the home page?
Add a Blog posts section to the home page and select the blog. It shows the latest articles as a grid or slider.
All Blog page settings
Every setting of this section, with its type and default.
Accepts these blocks: Title, Info, Excerpt, Article link and Tags.
Enable filtering by tags (checkbox, default: off): Shows the tags of the blog as filters above the articles, so customers can list only the articles with one tag.
Desktop layout (dropdown, default: 1 column): Shows the article cards in 1 or 2 columns on desktop. Options: 1 column, 2 columns.
Number of posts per page (slider 4 to 12, default: 6): Sets how many articles show on each page before the pagination.
Main blog section: Blog post card
Where to find it: Blogs → Default blog → Main blog → Blog post card
Show featured image (checkbox, default: on): Shows the featured image of each article.
Media aspect ratio (dropdown, default: Short (4:3)): Sets the shape of the article images. Options: Short (4:3), Square (1:1), Tall (5:6), Taller (2:3).
Media border radius (slider 0 to 30 px, default: 0 px): Rounds the corners of the article images.
Title block
Where to find it: Blogs → Default blog → Main blog → Add block → Title
One Title block per section.
The Title block has no settings in Combine 4.2.0.
Info block
Where to find it: Blogs → Default blog → Main blog → Add block → Info

Show date (checkbox, default: on): Shows the publication date.
Show author (checkbox, default: off): Shows the author.
Show comments number (checkbox, default: off): Shows how many comments the article has.
Excerpt block
Where to find it: Blogs → Default blog → Main blog → Add block → Excerpt
One Excerpt block per section.
Number of words (slider 5 to 40, default: 15): Sets how many words of the article the Excerpt block shows, when the article has no excerpt written in Shopify admin.
Article link block
Where to find it: Blogs → Default blog → Main blog → Add block → Article link
One Article link block per section.
Button label (text field, default: "Read more"): Sets the text of the link to the article.
Tags block
Where to find it: Blogs → Default blog → Main blog → Add block → Tags
One Tags block per section.
Maximum number of shown tags (slider 2 to 8, default: 3): Sets how many tags each card shows.
