Content toggles section

The Content toggles section of Combine shows questions and answers as toggles, with FAQ structured data, an image and a contact form.

Applies to: Combine 4.2.0 and later. Added in: Combine 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Combine 4.2.0.

The Content toggles section shows questions and answers as toggles that open and close, with an optional contact form and image next to them. It can add FAQ structured data for search engines, and its Events calendar preset lists events with a place, a date and a register button.

Where to find it: in the theme editor, select Add section and choose FAQ or Events calendar. Both are the Content toggles section with different starting blocks. The FAQ page template (page.faq) already has one; see Alternate page templates.

Presets: FAQ and Events calendar

  • FAQ starts with three questions about shipping, delivery and returns, and the heading "FAQ".
  • Events calendar starts with three events. Each one has the map marker icon, a subtitle for the place and the date, a Register button and a text for the details.

You can turn one into the other by changing the blocks; the settings are the same.

Set up an FAQ with structured data

Add the FAQ section

Select Add section and choose FAQ, or open the FAQ page template.

Write one Content block per question

In each Content block, type the question in Title and the answer in Text. Leave Subtitle empty for a plain FAQ.

Turn on structured data

Select the section and, under Misc, turn on Enable structured data. Combine adds FAQPage data with every question and answer of this section to the page.

Keep it to one section per page

Turn on Enable structured data in one Content toggles section per page only. Search engines expect one FAQ list per page.

Check the page

Save, open the live page and test its address in Google's Rich Results Test.

Contact form

  • Show form adds a contact form next to the toggles, so customers can ask what the FAQ does not answer. The form has Name, Email and Message fields and sends to your store's email address, like the Contact form section.
  • Form title is the heading above the form (default "Contact form").
  • Container background sets the background style of the form box: Primary (the default) or Secondary. On desktop the form stays in view while customers scroll the toggles.

Image

  • Show image adds an image next to the toggles. Image is the picture, and Link makes it clickable.
  • With both the form and the image on, the section uses three columns: toggles, form and image.

Misc

  • Have the first toggle opened by default opens the first question when the page loads.
  • Enable structured data outputs FAQPage structured data (JSON-LD) for this section; see the steps above.

The section heading, colors, margins and heading tag work as described in General section styling. The color under Section design is called Text color.

Blocks

Content

Each Content block is one toggle.

  • Title is the question or the event name, always visible.
  • Subtitle is a smaller line under the title, for example the place and date of an event.
  • Select an icon shows an icon next to the subtitle (default No icon).
  • Button label and Button link add a small button next to the title, for example "Register".
  • Text is the answer, shown when the toggle opens. It takes bold, italic, links and lists.
  • Image adds a picture under the answer. Constrain image width limits it to Maximum width, 50 to 300 px.
  • Hide block if dynamic content is not present hides the toggle when Text and Image are both empty, for example when they are connected to a metafield that has no value on this page.

Can my FAQ show up as rich results in Google?

Only Google decides. Enable structured data gives Google the questions and answers in the format it reads, but Google shows FAQ rich results only for some sites and pages. The questions are the block Title values and the answers the Text values, without formatting. See Google's FAQ structured data guide.

How do I make an events calendar?

Add the Events calendar preset. In each Content block, write the event name in Title, the place and date in Subtitle, and the details in Text. Set Button link to the registration page, or clear Button label to hide the button. Leave Enable structured data off for events; FAQPage data is for questions and answers.
