Text columns with images section
The Text columns with images section of Combine shows images with a title, caption and link in columns, as a grid or slider.
Applies to: Combine 4.2.0 and later. Added in: Combine 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Combine 4.2.0.
The Text columns with images section shows images with a title, a caption and a link in columns, as a grid or a slider. Use it for categories, team members or the steps of a process.
Where to find it: in the theme editor, select Add section and choose Text columns with images. Add one Image with text block per column.
Layout
- Text alignment aligns the text under the images Left or Center (the default).
- Layout is Slider (the default), which scrolls sideways, or Grid.
- Desktop layout sets the columns per row: 3 columns or 4 columns (the default). Phones show one column.
- Media aspect ratio crops every image to one shape: Shorter (3:2), Short (4:3) or Square (1:1) (the default).
Custom card design
Border radius rounds the corners of the images and cards, 0 to 30 px. The section heading, background colors, margins and heading tag work as described in General section styling.
This section differs from Text columns with icons: it has no Hide border or Animate opacity on hover, and only 3 or 4 columns.
Blocks
Image with text
- Image is the column picture, cropped to Media aspect ratio.
- Title and Caption are the two lines of text under the image.
- Link makes the column clickable. Open link in a new window appears once a link is set.
- Background, Text and Border under Custom card design give this column its own colors and a card shape.
- The column titles use the section's Heading tag under SEO. The block's own Heading tag has no effect in Combine 4.2.0.
Why are my images cut off?
Because every image is cropped to Media aspect ratio. Choose the ratio closest to your images, or crop them to that shape before you upload them.
Can I show small icons instead of images?
Yes, in another section. Text columns with icons shows built-in or custom icons at a small size; this section shows images at the full column width.

The Text columns with images section uses the standard Section heading settings, listed in General section styling.
Heading (text field, default: "Text columns with image"): Sets the section title. Leave Heading, Subheading and Button label empty to hide the heading area.
Subheading (formatted text, default: "Share your best offers").
Heading size (dropdown, default: Regular). Options: Regular, Large.
Text alignment (dropdown, default: One row: Left). Options: One row: Left, Two rows: Left, Two rows: Center.
Button label (text field): Adds a button to the heading area on desktop; below 768 px it shows under the section as a full-width button.
Button link (link). Shown only when Button label is set.
These settings differ from the standard ones or exist only here:

Background gradient (gradient).
Heading text color (color, default: transparent): Sets the color of the section heading and subheading only.

Decrease top margin (checkbox, default: off): Makes the space above the section smaller.
Remove bottom margin (checkbox, default: off): Pulls the next section up, so the two sections touch.

Heading tag (dropdown, default: H2): Sets the HTML level of the section heading and of every column title. It does not change the size. Options: H1, H2, H3, H4, span.

Image (image): Sets the column picture, cropped to Media aspect ratio.
