Rich text section

The Rich text section of Combine shows a card of heading, text, button and rating blocks, with an optional image or video beside it.

Applies to: Combine 4.2.0 and later. Added in: Combine 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Combine 4.2.0.

The Rich text section shows a card of headings, text, buttons and ratings, with an optional image or video beside it or above it. You arrange the content of the card with blocks.

Where to find it: in the theme editor, select Add section and choose Rich text with image, Fullwidth text banner or Heading text. The three are the same section with different starting settings.

Storefront Rich text section: a grey card with the caption "Beautifully crafted", the heading "Simple & Decidedly Modern", a line of text and a black Show more button, beside a photo of glassware on a wooden table.

Image or video

  • Image is the picture next to the text. Video plays an uploaded video instead; the image shows when the video cannot play.
  • Show video controls adds play, pause and sound controls to the video. Without them, the video plays muted in a loop.
  • Use different media on mobile shows Mobile video file on small screens, with its own Mobile video aspect ratio.
  • Image position puts the media On the left, Above the text, On the right (the default) or hides it with Don't show image.
  • Fill image area (on by default) crops the image to fill the full height of the card on desktop. Turn it off to show the whole image. On mobile the image always shows in full.

Card layout

  • Card height sets the minimum height of the card on desktop: Small (40 percent of the screen height), Medium (60 percent, the default) or Large (80 percent). On mobile the card is as tall as its content.
  • Fullwidth stretches the card to the edges of the screen, with square corners.
  • Text alignment aligns the blocks Left, Center (the default) or Right.
  • Text spacing sets the gap between the blocks, from -12 to 60 px (default 24 px).

Custom card design

  • Background, Text and Border set the card's colors. Leave them transparent to use the page colors.
  • Border radius rounds the corners of the card, 0 to 30 px.
  • Hide border removes the line around the card.
  • Decrease top margin, Remove top margin and Remove bottom margin under Gutter work as described in General section styling. Remove bottom margin helps when an image section follows the card.

Blocks

The card holds up to 9 blocks, shown in the order of the sidebar. Each block type can be added more than once.

Custom HTML / Liquid

Custom Liquid runs your own HTML or Liquid code inside the card. Krown support does not provide help with custom code.

Heading

  • Heading is the title text.
  • Heading size is Regular, Large (the default) or Extra large.
  • Heading tag under SEO sets its HTML level (default H2).

Text

  • Text is a paragraph with bold, italic, links and lists.
  • Text size is Regular or Large.

Button

  • Button label and Button link set the button text and where it goes. Open link in a new window appears once a link is set.
  • Button style is Outline (the default) or Solid.

Image

A small image inside the card, such as a logo or a signature. Height sets its height, 40 to 240 px (default 80 px); the width follows its proportions.

Star rating

  • Rating fills the five stars from 0 to 100 percent (default 80 percent, four stars).
  • Caption is the text next to the stars. Star color sets their color.

Empty space

Height adds extra space between two blocks: Small (none of its own, one more gap), Medium (20 px) or Large (40 px).

How do I put two buttons side by side?

Not in the Rich text section: its blocks always stack. Use a Flex slideshow, Flex cards or Flex columns section, where a Content group block puts buttons in one row.

Why is my image cropped?

Because Fill image area is on, which crops the image to the height of the card on desktop. Turn it off to show the whole image, or lower Card height.
