Text columns section

The Text columns section of Combine shows columns of text with a title and button, as a grid or slider.

Applies to: Combine 4.2.0 and later. Added in: Combine 2.1.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Combine 4.2.0.

The Text columns section shows columns of text, each with a bold title and a paragraph, in a grid. Use it for short facts, values or policies.

Where to find it: in the theme editor, select Add section and choose Text columns. Add one Text block per column.

Layout

  • Desktop layout sets the columns per row: 3 columns (the default) or 4 columns. On screens narrower than 768 px, 3 columns stack one per row; 4 columns show two per row, then one on phones.
  • Text alignment aligns the text of the columns Left (the default) or Center.

Custom card design

  • Hide border (on by default) shows the columns as plain text. Turn it off to draw each column as a card with a border and padding.
  • Border radius rounds the corners of the cards, 0 to 30 px, when they have a border or a background.

The section heading, background colors, margins and heading tag work as described in General section styling.

Blocks

Text

  • Title is the bold title of the column.
  • Content is the paragraph under it. It takes bold, italic, links and lists.
  • Background, Text and Border under Custom card design give this column its own colors.
  • The column titles use the section's Heading tag under SEO. The block's own Heading tag has no effect in Combine 4.2.0.

Can I add a button or an icon to a text column?

Not in this section; it shows a title and a paragraph only. Add a link inside Content, or use Text columns with icons for icons and links, or Flex columns for buttons and images.

Can the columns scroll as a slider?

No. Text columns is always a grid. Text columns with icons, Text columns with images and Flex columns have a Layout setting with a slider.
