Video section

The Video section in Seventh is a Custom grid preset that shows one video in a card, from Shopify files or YouTube and Vimeo.

Applies to: Seventh 4.0.0 and later. Added in: Seventh 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-12 against Seventh 4.0.0.

The Video section shows one video, from YouTube, Vimeo or a file uploaded to Shopify, across the full content width of a page. It is a preset of the Custom grid section, with one card that holds a Video block.

Where to find it: select Add section in the theme editor, then choose Video in the Media & galleries category.

What it shows

  • A section header with a Caption block and a Heading block.
  • One card that fills the full row (Cards size XLarge, also one per row on mobile). The card is a Card block with Remove card background on.
  • One Video block inside the card, with Enable video autoplay and Enable video looping on.

Select the Video block to set the Video URL or Video file, the background image and the playback options. The Video block settings are on Video block.

The Video section has no settings of its own. After you add it, it is a Custom grid section:

Should I use the Video section or a video background?

Use the Video section when the video is the content customers watch. To play a video behind text instead, turn on Show media background in a section's Section design settings and choose a Background video. A background video always plays muted and in a loop. See General section styling.

Why does my video not autoplay on mobile?

Because the phone blocks it. Phones in low power mode do not autoplay videos, whatever the Video block settings are. This is a browser rule, not a Seventh setting. The video plays when the customer taps it.
