Video block
The Video block in Seventh plays a Shopify-hosted video with autoplay, loop, width and corner radius settings inside a section or card.
Applies to: Seventh 4.0.0 and later. Added in: Seventh 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-12 against Seventh 4.0.0.
The Video block plays a video inside a section or card: a YouTube or Vimeo video, or a video file uploaded to Shopify.
Where to find it: select Add block inside a section or card in the theme editor, then choose Video.
Video source
- Video file suits short clips that play on their own, for example a looping product shot. Shopify hosts the file, and it plays without the YouTube or Vimeo player.
- Video URL suits longer videos already on YouTube or Vimeo.
- When both are set, Video file is used.
Autoplay
- With Enable video autoplay on (the default), the video starts by itself, muted and without player controls.
- With it off, the video shows the Background image as a poster and a play button, and customers start it themselves.
Common use cases
- Product demo: show how a product works; autoplay gives quick impact.
- Brand story: a short intro or campaign video, with a poster image for a better first impression.
- Background video: motion behind content, with loop on for seamless playback.
Why does the video not autoplay on my phone?
Because the phone is in low power mode, or the browser blocks autoplay. Mobile browsers stop autoplaying videos in low power mode. Set a Background image: it shows while the video cannot play. This is a browser limit, not a Seventh setting.
