What Local does not do
What Local does not do: the limits of the theme, such as checkout delivery options and more than three custom badges, and what to do instead.

Can the store selector change the delivery method at checkout?
No. Local's store selector and pickup availability widgets are information only: they tell customers where a product is in stock. Customers choose shipping or local pickup, and the pickup location, in Shopify checkout, which the theme does not control. Set up local pickup in Shopify admin → Settings → Shipping and delivery → Local pickup.
- Local does not stop customers from buying a product that is out of stock at their chosen store. They can change the store, or choose shipping at checkout.
- Local does not hide the buy buttons when the chosen store has no stock. An old code tweak did this; it does not match Local 4.2.1. See Hide purchase buttons when local pickup is not available.
- Local does not save the chosen store in the customer's account. The choice is kept in the customer's browser, so another device starts without a store.
Can I add more than three custom badges?
Not with theme settings. Local has 3 custom badges, each shown by one product tag, for design reasons. More badges need a change to the theme code, which Krown support does not make. See Product badges theme settings, Code tweaks and Custom work and code changes.
Product pages
- Local does not take pre-orders with their own stock or payment rules. Show "pre-order" button label changes only the button text, for every product on the template. Use a separate template and a pre-order app. See Product variant and buy blocks.
- Local does not send automatic back in stock emails. The Back in stock alert block sends you a contact email; you write to the customer. Use a back in stock app for automatic emails. See Product availability blocks.
- Local does not add a price to a custom property. Use a product options app for paid personalization. See Product variant and buy blocks.
- Local does not show swatches in the dropdown variant picker. Set Variants selector type to Blocks. See Variant swatches.
- Local does not show color swatches or option names in the Product siblings block, only product images. See Product variant and buy blocks.
- Local does not let customers move the Progress bar chart. It is a fixed picture of a value. See Product attribute blocks.
- Local does not connect the meter metafields with dynamic sources. Type the metafield as
namespace.key. See Product attribute blocks. - Local does not apply a discount from the Coupon code block. The block shows and copies the code; customers paste it at checkout. See More product blocks.
- Local does not let you pick complementary or related products in the theme editor. Use Shopify's Search & Discovery app. See More product blocks and Product recommendations section.
- Local does not show more than 8 icons per Icons list block on the product page. Add up to 4 Icons list blocks. See Product attribute blocks.
- Local does not show more than 6 dynamic icons on product cards. See Dynamic icons list theme settings.
Blogs and events
- Local does not show more than 3 articles in the Blog posts section. Link to the blog page for the rest. See Blog posts section.
- Local does not print event times in 12-hour format. Times show in 24-hour format, in your store's time zone. See Events calendar.
- Local does not list more than 250 posts of an events blog, or more than 50 events in one Events list section. See Events list section.
Comparison and event templates
Local 4.2.1 does not include the compare, event and event-ticket templates in its theme files, and the theme editor cannot create them: their sections cannot be added with Add section. Without them, comparing from the collection grid, the event page and the ticket popup do not work. If the template picker has no Products → compare, Blog posts → event or Products → event-ticket template, contact Krown support. See Product comparison page and Events calendar.
Cart and checkout
- Local does not set free shipping. The free shipping bar is a message with one amount in your store currency, converted for other currencies. Set the real free shipping rate in Shopify admin → Settings → Shipping and delivery. See Cart theme settings.
- Local does not block express checkout buttons with the terms checkbox. The checkbox disables only the cart's Checkout button. See Cart theme settings.
- Local does not let you style or keep the additional checkout buttons. Shopify builds them for each customer and payment method. See Troubleshoot the cart.
Popups
- Local does not show the Exit intent popup on phones and tablets. It opens when the mouse moves to the top of the browser window, which touch devices do not do. See Exit intent popup section.
Fonts and design
- Local does not upload your own font files in Theme settings. The Typography settings use Shopify's font library. Your own fonts need code; see Custom fonts.
- Local does not support layout changes beyond its settings, sections and blocks without code. See Custom work and code changes.
