Featured collection section
The Featured collection section of Borders shows products from one collection, or up to four collections as tabs, in a grid or slider.
Applies to: Borders 3.1.0 and later. Added in: Borders 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Borders 3.1.0.
The Featured collection section shows products from one collection in a grid or a slider, on any page. With two to four collections, it shows them as tabs that customers switch between (Borders 2.1.0 and later).
Where to find it: select Add section in the theme editor, then choose Featured collection.
Content
- Collection (the first of the four pickers) chooses the collection to show. Without any collection, the section shows placeholder products.
- Maximum number of products shown limits the products per collection, 4 to 96 (default 8). Products appear in the collection's sort order.
- A View all products button under the products links to the collection shown. In Slider style the same footer holds the slider arrows on mobile.
- The products use the design from Product card theme settings, including quick buy and badges.
Collection tabs
- Set a collection in two, three or four of the Collection pickers to turn on the tabs.
- Each tab is labelled with the collection's title, as it is in Shopify admin. To change a tab label, rename the collection.
- The first tab is open when the page loads. Selecting a tab shows its products and points the View all products button to that collection.
- In Slider style, each tab has its own arrows in the heading row (on desktop, when Show slider navigation elements inside on desktop is on in Theme settings → Section headings & footers).
Layout
- Style shows the products as a Grid or a Slider.
- Desktop layout sets 3, 4, 5 or 6 columns. The grid steps down on smaller screens, for example 6 columns become 5, 4, then 3 as the screen narrows.
- Mobile layout sets 1 or 2 columns on phones.
In Borders 3.1.0, the section's Hide borders setting has no effect. The lines between the products follow Theme settings → Product card → Hide borders.

Setting up collection tabs
Add the section
In the theme editor, select Add section and choose Featured collection. Set the Heading, for example "Shop by category".
Choose the first collection
Under Content, choose the first Collection. Its title becomes the first tab.
Add up to three more collections
Choose a collection in the second, third and fourth Collection pickers. The tabs appear as soon as two are set.
Set the number of products
Set Maximum number of products shown, for example 8 for two rows of four.
Choose the layout
Set Style, Desktop layout and Mobile layout.
How do I change the tab names?
Rename the collections. The tabs show each collection's title from Shopify admin → Products → Collections, and there is no separate label setting.
Why does my section show grey placeholder products?
No collection is selected, or the selected collection has no products available in the Online Store. Choose a Collection with products, and check the products are active and published to the Online Store sales channel.

Collection (collection picker): The collection whose products the section shows. With two or more Collection pickers set, each becomes a tab labelled with the collection title.

Maximum number of products shown (slider 4 to 96, default: 8): Limits the products shown per collection, in the collection's sort order.

Style (dropdown, default: Grid). Options: Slider, Grid.
Desktop layout (dropdown, default: 4 columns): Sets the product columns on desktop; the grid shows fewer columns on smaller screens. Options: 3 columns, 4 columns, 5 columns, 6 columns.
Mobile layout (dropdown, default: 2 columns). Options: 1 column, 2 columns.

Color scheme (color scheme, default: scheme_1).
Hide section bottom border (checkbox, default: off).

Hide borders (checkbox, default: off): Meant to remove the lines between the products. In Borders 3.1.0 it has no effect: the lines follow Theme settings → Product card → Hide borders.
