Rotating images section
The Rotating images section of Borders cycles through images in one frame at a set speed, like a flip book.
Applies to: Borders 3.1.0 and later. Added in: Borders 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Borders 3.1.0.
The Rotating images section shows several images in one frame, one after the other, like a flip book. It switches to the next image at a fixed speed and starts again after the last one.
Where to find it: select Add section in the theme editor, then choose Rotating images.
Settings
- Rotation speed sets how long each image stays before the next one appears, 0.1 to 2 seconds (default 0.3). Short values give a fast stop-motion effect.
- Aspect ratio sets the shape of the frame, from Ultra-Wide (21:9) to Square (1:1). Every image is cropped to it.
- The rotation runs continuously; it has no arrows and does not pause on hover.
- The section has no color scheme of its own. The Section heading, Hide section bottom border, Remove border radius and Remove inner padding & border radius settings are the shared ones: see General section styling.
Image blocks
Add one Image block per frame. The blocks rotate in the order of the sidebar.
- Image is the frame's picture, cropped to the section's Aspect ratio.
- Media shape rounds two or all corners of that image into a half circle (Top, Right, Bottom, Left or Fully rounded).
Setting up a flip book effect
Add the section
Select Add section and choose Rotating images.
Prepare the images
Use images with the same framing and the ratio you will choose in Aspect ratio, for example product shots from one angle in several colors.
Add one block per image
Select Add block → Image for each picture and upload it in Image.
Set the speed
Set Rotation speed: around 0.3 seconds for a stop-motion feel, 1 to 2 seconds for a slow slideshow.
Can customers stop the rotation?
No. Rotating images keeps switching images as long as the section is on the page. For images the customer can browse at their own pace, use a Rich blocks section with Style set to Slider.
Why do my images flicker?
The images have different framing or sizes, so each switch shows a jump. Crop all images to the section's Aspect ratio with the subject in the same place, or raise Rotation speed.
