Text columns with images section

The Text columns with images section of Borders shows columns with an image, title, caption and button, in a grid or slider.

Applies to: Borders 3.1.0 and later. Added in: Borders 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Borders 3.1.0.

The Text columns with images section shows columns that each have an image, a title, a caption and an optional button, in a slider or a grid. Use it for categories, features or short stories with a picture.

Where to find it: select Add section in the theme editor, then choose Text columns with images.

Layout

  • Desktop layout sets 2 to 6 columns. The layout adapts on smaller screens; for example 4 columns become 3 below 1024 px and 2 below 768 px.
  • Layout sets Slider (customers swipe or use the arrows) or Grid (all columns at once, in rows).
  • Aspect ratio crops every image to one shape, from Wide (2:1) to Taller (2:3). See Recommended image sizes.
  • Text alignment aligns the text Left, Center or Right.
  • Hide borders, Remove border radius and Remove inner padding & border radius (Inner content design) change the columns' frame.

The Section heading and Section design settings are the shared ones: see General section styling.

Title and caption style

  • Title style: Text font (Body or Headings), Text size (Small, Regular, Large) and Text weight (bold).
  • Caption style: Text font, Text size and Line height.

Image with text blocks

Add one Image with text block per column.

  • Image is the column's picture (640 x 640 px recommended), cropped to the section's Aspect ratio.
  • Media shape rounds two or all corners of the image into a half circle.
  • Image link makes the image a link, with the image hover effect from Theme settings → Animations. Its Open link in a new window opens it in a new tab.
  • Title and Caption are the column's text. Heading tag (SEO) sets the title's tag, H3 by default.
  • Button label and Button link add a button under the caption, with its own Open link in a new window.

Why are my images cropped?

Every image is cropped to the section's Aspect ratio, so the columns line up. Choose the ratio closest to your images, or crop them to that ratio before uploading.

The image can: set Image link. The text has no link of its own; add a Button label and Button link for a link under the text.
