Email signup section
The Email signup section of Borders shows a newsletter sign-up form inside a page, with a title and text.

The Email signup section shows a newsletter sign-up form inside a page: a title, an email field with an arrow button, and a short text under the form. Borders uses it on the home page and on the password page.
Where to find it: select Add section in the theme editor, then choose Email signup.
Content
- Title is the heading above the form. Leave it empty to show the form without a title.
- Text is the small text under the form, for example what customers get when they subscribe.
- Centered content centers the title, form and text. Turn it off to align them to the left.
- Heading tag (under SEO) sets the HTML level of the title for search engines; the default is H3.
- Color scheme and Hide section bottom border are under Section design; see General section styling.
After a customer subscribes, the form is replaced by "Thanks for subscribing!". The texts of the form (the "Enter your email" placeholder and the confirmation) are theme texts: change them in Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes → … → Edit default theme content.
Where do subscribers go?
Subscribers are saved as customers in your store. Each email that signs up appears in Shopify admin → Customers, subscribed to email marketing and tagged newsletter. Logged-in customers see their email already filled in. To send newsletters, use Shopify Email or connect an email marketing app; see Connect Mailchimp.
Is this the same as the Newsletter section in the Overlay group?
No. The Email signup section sits in the page. The Newsletter section in the Overlay group shows a sign-up form over the page after a delay. Both save subscribers the same way. See Newsletter popup section.
All Email signup settings
Every setting on this page, with its type and default.
Title (text field, default: "Subscribe to our newsletter"): Sets the heading above the form. Leave it empty to show the form without a heading.
Text (rich text, default: "Be the first to know about new collections and exclusive offers."): Sets the small text under the email field.
Centered content (checkbox, default: on): Centers the heading, form and text; when off they are aligned to the left.

Heading tag (dropdown, default: H3): Sets the HTML heading level of the Title for search engines; it does not change the look. Options: H1, H2, H3, H4, span.
