Contact form section
The Contact form section of Borders builds a contact form from field blocks, an e-mail field and a submit button.
Applies to: Borders 3.1.0 and later. Added in: Borders 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Borders 3.1.0.
The Contact form section builds a contact form from blocks: text fields you name yourself, an email field and a submit button. Next to the form, a text area holds your contact details or opening hours. The default contact page template (page.contact) uses it.
Where to find it: select Add section in the theme editor, then choose Contact form.
Heading and content
- Heading is the title above the form, with Heading tag, Heading size and Heading weight (bold) for its look and HTML level.
- Content is the text shown beside the form on desktop, for example your phone number, address and opening hours. On screens narrower than 768 px it moves under the form.
- Leave Content empty to show only the form.
- Color scheme and Hide section bottom border are under Section design; see General section styling.
Form fields
The form is made of three kinds of blocks, shown in the order of the sidebar. A new section starts with Name, E-mail, Message and the submit button.
Form field
- Label names the field. Customers see it as the placeholder, and it is the field name in the email you receive.
- Type chooses Single line (a text box) or Multi line (a large text area for messages).
- Required stops the form from sending while the field is empty.
- The email field customers fill in so you can reply. It is always required and has no settings.
- A form can have one E-mail block. Logged-in customers see their email already filled in.
Submit button
- Label is the text on the button; the default is Submit.
- A form can have one Submit button block.
After sending, customers see "Thanks for contacting us! We'll get back to you as soon as possible." This is a theme text: change it in Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes → … → Edit default theme content.
Where do the messages go?
Shopify sends every message to your store's contact email. Set it in Shopify admin → Settings → General, under the store's contact details. Borders only builds the form; Shopify sends the email.
Why do two of my fields merge in the email?
Two Form field blocks have the same Label. Borders names each field after its label, so fields with the same label count as one field and only one value reaches you. Give every field a unique label, for example "Phone" and "Order number" instead of two fields called "Details".
