Content toggles section
The Content toggles section of Borders shows questions and answers that open on click, with optional images and FAQ structured data.
Applies to: Borders 3.1.0 and later. Added in: Borders 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Borders 3.1.0.
The Content toggles section shows a list of titles that open on click to reveal their text, and optionally an image. Use it for an FAQ, shipping and returns information or product details. Since Borders 3.0.0 it can also tell search engines that the list is an FAQ.
Where to find it: select Add section in the theme editor, then choose Content toggles.
Toggles
Each Content block is one item of the list:
- Title is the question or label customers select to open the item.
- Text is the answer: a rich text field with paragraphs, bold, italic and links.
- Image adds an image under the text (Borders 3.0.0 and later).
- Constrain image width limits the image to Maximum width (50 to 300 px). Without it, the image fills the width of the item.
Every item opens and closes on its own, so customers can have several open at once. All items start closed.
FAQ structured data
Enable structured data (Borders 3.0.0 and later) adds FAQPage structured data (JSON-LD) for the section: every item's Title becomes a question and its Text, without formatting, the answer. Images are not included.
- Turn it on for one Content toggles section per page, and only for real questions and answers.
Typography
- Title font, Title size and Title weight (bold) style the item titles.
- Content text size sets the size of the answers: Small, Regular, Large or Extra large.
- Invert color scheme on selected toggles (under Section design) swaps the text and background colors of an open item, so it stands out (default: on).
The section heading, section footer and design settings are explained in General section styling.
Setting up an FAQ page
Create the FAQ page
In Shopify admin → Online Store → Pages, add a page named for example "FAQ". If you want a layout of its own, create a page template for it in the theme editor and assign it to the page.
Add the section
Open the page (or its template) in the theme editor, select Add section and choose Content toggles. Set its Heading, for example "Frequently asked questions".
Add one block per question
Select Add block → Content for each question. Write the Title and the Text.
Turn on structured data
Turn on Enable structured data, in one Content toggles section of the page only.
Test the page
After saving, test the page address in Google's Rich Results Test. It should find a valid FAQ.
Can I have several Content toggles sections on one page?
Yes, for example one per topic (Shipping, Returns, Payment). Turn on Enable structured data in only one of them, or in each only if Google's test shows no errors; one FAQPage per page is the usual recommendation.
Will my FAQ appear in Google search results?
Not necessarily. Enable structured data gives Google the questions and answers in its format, but Google decides whether to show FAQ results, and it shows them only for some sites. See SEO for what Shopify controls.
