Table section
The Table section of Borders builds a specification table from text and checkmark blocks, for features, ingredients or comparisons.
Applies to: Borders 3.1.0 and later. Added in: Borders 3.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Borders 3.1.0.
The Table section builds a simple table from blocks, for example a product specification, a list of ingredients or a feature comparison with checkmarks. The release notes call it the specification table.
Where to find it: Online Store → Themes → Customize → Add section → Table
Rows and columns
- Blocks layout (under Inner content design) sets the number of columns: 1 to 4 (default 3).
- The blocks fill the table from left to right, then wrap to the next row. With 3 columns, blocks 1 to 3 are the first row, blocks 4 to 6 the second, and so on.
- A Text block is a cell with formatted text.
- A Checkmark block is a cell with a check icon. It has no settings.
- The section heading defaults to "Product specification". Heading tag and Hide heading border work as in other sections.
- On mobile the table keeps its columns. Each column is at least 120 px wide; a wider table can be scrolled sideways.
The section is hidden on the storefront when it has no blocks.
Setting up a specification table
Add the section
Select Add section → Table, for example on the product page template below the product information.
Set the number of columns
Set Blocks layout to the number of columns of your table, for example 3 for a label and two products.
Add the first row
Add one block per cell, from left to right: a Text block with the label, then Text or Checkmark blocks for the values.
Add the next rows
Repeat for each row. Every row needs exactly as many blocks as there are columns.
Use product data
On a product template, connect a Text block to a product metafield with the dynamic source button, so each product shows its own values.
Why are my table cells in the wrong column?
A row has a block too many or too few. The table has no real rows: the blocks just wrap after every Blocks layout cells, so one missing block shifts every cell after it. For an empty cell, add a Text block with no text.
Can I show a different table on each product?
Yes. Add the Table section to the product template and connect its Text blocks to product metafields with the dynamic source button. Products with an empty metafield show an empty cell.
