Borders presets

The five Borders presets on the Shopify Theme Store (Borders, Objekts, Readers, Folio, Mosaic) and how a preset differs from a demo store.

Applies to: Borders 3.1.0 and later. Added in: Borders 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Borders 3.1.0.

A preset is a ready-made style for Borders: a set of Theme settings values for fonts, colors, the grid, borders and product cards. All five presets install the same sections, blocks, templates and settings; only those values differ.

Where to find it: on the Borders page of the Shopify Theme Store, where you choose a preset before you add the theme.

The demo videos and older release notes use other names for three of them: "Raw" is the Borders preset, "Black" is Readers and "Art" is Mosaic.

Change the preset of your store

A preset only changes Theme settings values. Your sections, blocks, templates and content stay as they are.

Duplicate your theme

In Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes, duplicate the theme so you keep a copy of your current settings.

Choose the new style

Open the copy in the theme editor, open Theme settings and change the theme style to the preset you want. Alternatively, add Borders again from the Shopify Theme Store and choose the preset there.

Review the Theme settings

Check Colors, Typography, Cart and Social: the new preset replaces your colors and fonts, and some presets turn on the free shipping bar or fill social links with a placeholder.

Publish

When the copy looks right, publish it from Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes.

Changing the style overwrites the Theme settings values with the preset's values, including the color schemes you edited. Work on a duplicate so you can go back.

Is a preset the same as the demo store?

No. A preset sets fonts, colors and Theme settings values only. The demo stores also have their own sections, page and product templates, images, products and menus, and Shopify cannot copy those into your store. To rebuild a demo, follow its video in Recreate the Borders demo stores.

Which preset should I start from?

Start from the preset whose grid and borders are closest to what you want, because colors and fonts are the quickest settings to change. For example, Folio is the only preset without lines and with a fixed width layout, and Mosaic the only one with square corners.
