Readers preset
The Readers preset of Borders: its fonts, colors and layout choices, and which theme settings it changes from the defaults.
Applies to: Borders 3.1.0 and later. Added in: Borders 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Borders 3.1.0.
The Readers preset is a dark style: near-black backgrounds, light text, a lime accent for drawers and quick buy, serif headings and very rounded grid items. The demo video calls its demo store "Black".
Where to find it: choose Readers when you add the theme from the Shopify Theme Store. See Borders presets to switch an installed theme.
What the preset sets
These are the Theme settings the Readers preset changes from the theme defaults. Every other setting keeps its default.
- Layout: grid Border radius 50 px (default 20). See Layout theme settings.
- Borders: main container Border width 0 (no line around the store), primary borders Border style Solid (default Dotted). See Borders theme settings.
- Section headings & footers: Text font Body, Text size Small, Text weight (bold) off, Top padding Large, Bottom padding Regular. See Section headings and footers theme settings.
- Page titles: Text font Body, Text size Large (default Extra large).
- Buttons & forms: Buttons border size 1 px (default 2).
- Product card: Media aspect ratio Tall (5:6), Mouse over animation Zoom in, a
#101010media overlay at 15 % opacity, caption text centered, quick buy card background#d3ec18with black text, discount badge#ff8900. - Social: Behance, Discord, Email, Facebook and Instagram are filled with the placeholder link

The preset fills five social links with a placeholder #. Replace or clear them in Theme settings → Social before you publish.
Fonts and colors
- Headings: a system serif font, Letter spacing -2.
- Body: the system sans-serif font, Base size 16 px (default 18), Line height 1.1 (default 1.4).
- Body background:
#292929. - Default color scheme: Scheme 5. Modals/drawers: Scheme 4, the lime scheme.

Why does my store not look like the Black demo?
The preset sets only Theme settings: fonts, colors, grid and card values. The demo's sections, extra page and article templates, images and products are not installed with it. Rebuild them with the Black demo video in Recreate the Borders demo stores.
