Mosaic preset

The Mosaic preset of Borders: its fonts, colors and layout choices, and which theme settings it changes from the defaults.

Applies to: Borders 3.1.0 and later. Added in: Borders 1.2.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Borders 3.1.0.

The Mosaic preset is a gallery style: square corners, tall product images, condensed Oswald headings, a stone background and orange accents. Krown added it in Borders 1.2.0; the 1.2.0 release notes call it "Art".

Where to find it: choose Mosaic when you add the theme from the Shopify Theme Store. See Borders presets to switch an installed theme.

What the preset sets

These are the Theme settings the Mosaic preset changes from the theme defaults. Every other setting keeps its default.

  • Layout: Horizontal margin and Vertical margin 20 px, grid Border radius 0 (square corners). See Layout theme settings.
  • Borders: primary borders Border style Solid, Add padding to horizontal borders and Add padding to vertical borders on. See Borders theme settings.
  • Section headings & footers: Text font Body, Text size Small, Text weight (bold) off, Top padding Extra large, Bottom padding Regular, Show slider navigation elements inside on desktop off. See Section headings and footers theme settings.
  • Page titles: Text transform (uppercase) on.
  • Product card: Media aspect ratio Taller (2:3), Mouse over animation Repetition (style 2), Show second product media on mouse over on, caption uppercase, product grid Border radius 0, quick buy card #151515 with text #ecddbe, Rating display (desktop) Always visible with badge color #faff5b, discount badge #ff8900.   • Cart: Show free shipping minimum amount on, Free shipping minimum amount 100. See Cart theme settings.
  • Animations: Image mouse over animations Zoom in, Show arrow on hover off, Animate specific sections into view off. See Animations theme settings.

The preset turns on the free shipping bar at 100. Set your own threshold in Theme settings → Cart, or turn the bar off.

Fonts and colors

  • Headings: Oswald, weight 500, Base size 100 (default 80), Letter spacing -2.
  • Body: the system sans-serif font, Base size 15 px (default 18), Line height 1.1 (default 1.4).
  • Body background: #d6d2cb, visible in the store margins.
  • Default color scheme: Scheme 1. Modals/drawers: Scheme 3.

Is Mosaic the same as the Art preset?

Yes. "Art" is the name Mosaic had in the Borders 1.2.0 release notes and in the demo store. The Shopify Theme Store and the theme editor call it Mosaic.
