Recreate the Borders demo stores

Video guides that rebuild the Borders demo stores (Raw, Objekts, Black): why Shopify cannot copy demo content, and what each video covers.

Applies to: Borders 3.1.0 and later. Added in: Borders 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Borders 3.1.0.

Shopify does not let you copy demo content from a theme's online demo into your store. These videos show what was used to build three Borders demo stores, so you can reproduce them and get a good starting point for your design.

Where to find it: on this page. The videos were published in January 2024 and show Borders 1.0, so some labels and sections in your theme editor are newer.

Why demo content is not copied

When you add Borders, you get the theme, its settings and the preset you chose. The demo's sections, templates, images, products, collections and menus belong to the demo store, and Shopify has no way to import them into yours. A preset sets only fonts, colors and Theme settings values; see Borders presets.

Rebuild a demo store

Start from the matching preset

Add Borders with the preset that matches the demo: Borders for Raw, Objekts for Objekts, Readers for Black. See Borders presets.

Prepare your content

Create the products, collections, pages and menus you want to show. The sections need them before they can display anything.

Follow the video

Watch the video for the demo below and add the sections in the same order, with the same settings.

Add your own images

Upload your images at the aspect ratios the sections use. See Recommended image sizes.

Raw demo

The Raw demo uses the Borders preset: the yellow store with solid black lines. See Borders preset.

Objekts demo

The Objekts demo uses the Objekts preset: light grey, DM Sans and padded borders. See Objekts preset.

Black demo

The Black demo uses the Readers preset: the dark style with serif headings and a lime accent. See Readers preset.

Is there a video for the Folio and Mosaic demos?

No. The videos cover Raw, Objekts and Black only. For Folio and Mosaic, start from the preset, then build the pages with the section pages of these docs, for example Rich blocks section and Flex grid section.
