Password page
The Borders password page shows a header with logo, an opening soon message and an email signup while your store is not open.
Applies to: Borders 3.1.0 and later. Added in: Borders 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Borders 3.1.0.
The password page is what customers see while your store is protected by a password, for example before launch. It shows a header with your logo and a password button, a message, an email signup form and the Copyright bar. Customers with the password enter it from the button in the header.
Where to find it: Online Store → Themes → Customize → Password
Header
- Desktop logo image is the logo of the password page; without one, the store name shows. Destkop logo image maximum height (shown with this spelling in the editor) sets its height, 20 to 50 px.
- Color scheme and Hide section bottom border set the header design.
- The setting labelled Keep header padding static (don't follow inner padding value) is a slider here: it sets the left and right padding of the header on desktop, 0 to 100 px.
Content
- Heading (default "Opening soon") and Content are the message to your customers.
- Color scheme and Hide section bottom border set the section design.
- Under the message, the template has an Email signup section, so customers can ask to be told when you open. Subscribers go to Shopify admin → Customers.
- You can add other sections with Add section.
- The Copyright bar at the bottom is the same as in the Footer group.
Turn the password page on or off
Open the preferences
In Shopify admin, open Online Store → Preferences.
Set the password protection
Under Password protection, turn on Restrict access to visitors with the password, set a password and an optional message, and save.
Remove it at launch
To open the store, turn the password protection off again. On a trial store, you must pick a Shopify plan first.
Why can I see my store but my customers see the password page?
You are signed in to Shopify admin, so Shopify shows you the store. Everyone else sees the password page until you remove the password in Online Store → Preferences.
