Email signup section

The Email signup section adds a newsletter form to a Kingdom page; customers who sign up are added to your Shopify customers list.

Applies to: Kingdom 6.2.0 and later. Added in: Kingdom 2.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Kingdom 6.2.0.

The Email signup section adds a newsletter form to a Kingdom page: a heading, a short text and an email field. Customers who sign up are added to your Shopify customers list. The old docs called it the Newsletter section.

Where to find it: select Add section in the theme editor, then choose Email signup (Add section category Forms).

Heading and description

The section is built from three blocks, each used once, in the order you drag them:

  • Heading sets the title (default "Subscribe to our emails") and its Heading tag.
  • Subheading sets the text under the title in Description (default "Be the first to know about new collections and exclusive offers.").
  • Email form adds the email field with an arrow button. A signed-in customer finds their email already filled in.

The content is centered. Custom background color fills the whole section with a color and adds space above and below it; Custom text color sets the text, the field border and the arrow. See General section settings.

After signing up, the customer sees "Thanks for subscribing!". Change the texts of the form ("Enter your email", "Thanks for subscribing!") in Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes → … → Edit default theme content.

Where signups go

The form is Shopify's customer form, so Shopify, not Kingdom, stores the signups:

  • Each email becomes a customer in Shopify admin → Customers, subscribed to email marketing.
  • Kingdom adds the tag newsletter to these customers, so you can find them with a filter on that tag.
  • Shopify's own email marketing (Shopify Email) and most email apps read this list.

The same form is used by the Footer's Email signup block, the Popup section and the password page.

Where can I see who signed up?

In Shopify admin → Customers. Customers who signed up are subscribed to email marketing and have the tag newsletter, so you can filter the list by either. Kingdom does not keep a separate list.

Can I connect the form to Mailchimp?

Not directly. The form saves signups to Shopify customers, not to Mailchimp. Connect Mailchimp to Shopify with Mailchimp's Shopify app, which syncs your Shopify customers to a Mailchimp audience. See Connect Mailchimp.

Why do I not see a new subscriber?

Because the email was already a customer, or the signup failed. A customer who already exists is updated, not added again. Check the email in Shopify admin → Customers; also check that the test did not end with an error message under the field.
