Blocks
The 10 theme blocks of Kingdom that you add inside Flex cards and Flex grid cards, and where the other sections keep their own blocks.
Applies to: Kingdom 6.2.0 and later. Added in: Kingdom 6.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Kingdom 6.2.0.
A block is a single content element, such as a heading, a text or a button. Kingdom has two kinds:
- Theme blocks, listed on this page. You add them inside a Flex card or a Text card with Add block. They were added in Kingdom 6.0.0.
- Section blocks, which belong to one section, such as the slides of a slideshow or the Variant picker of the product page. They are documented on the page of their section.
Theme blocks
- Button block: a link button, outline or solid.
- Caption block: a short label above a heading.
- Content group block: Button, Image and Caption blocks side by side in one row.
- Custom Liquid block: your own HTML or Liquid code.
- Divider block: a horizontal line.
- Empty space block: a gap between blocks.
- Heading block: a title with a heading tag.
- Image block: a small image, such as a logo.
- Text block: a paragraph of text.
- Star rating block: a fixed row of stars with a caption.
Apps can also add their own blocks to Flex cards and Text cards.
Why can I not add a Heading block to my slideshow?
Because theme blocks work only inside a Flex card or a Text card. A slideshow, a gallery or a rich text section accepts only its own section blocks. To combine theme blocks freely, use a Flex cards section or a Flex grid section.
