Scrolling text section

The Scrolling text section shows a moving line of text in Kingdom, with a direction, speed and colors you choose and a pause on hover.

Applies to: Kingdom 6.2.0 and later. Added in: Kingdom 5.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Kingdom 6.2.0.

The Scrolling text section shows a line of text that moves across the page without stopping, on a colored band. Use it for short messages such as offers, shipping information or brand values. Kingdom 5.0.0 added it.

Where to find it: select Add section in the theme editor, then choose Scrolling text (Add section category Promotions).

Text and speed

  • Each message is a Scrolling item block. Type it in Scrolling text; it supports bold, italic and links. The messages follow each other in the order of the blocks, and the line repeats so it never runs out.
  • Scroll direction sets which way the text moves: Left (the default) or Right.
  • Scroll speed sets how fast the text moves, 20 to 300 (default 100). Higher values move faster. On screens 768 px wide or less, the text moves a third slower.
  • Pause on mouseover (default on) stops the text while the mouse is over it, so customers can read it or select a link.
  • Text size sets the size of the text: Small or Regular.
  • Background and Text under Colors set the band colors (default white text on a near-black band). Set a color to fully transparent to use the theme colors instead.

A Scrolling text section with no blocks shows nothing.

Can I use Scrolling text as an announcement bar?

Yes, as a section on the page. Add it at the top of the home page or of a template. It scrolls with the page and sits below the top of the page content, next to the sidebar. For a bar above the whole store, use the Announcement bar, which shows one message on every page.

Because the text moves under the mouse. Keep Pause on mouseover on, so the text stops when a customer points at a link.
