Custom HTML / Liquid section

The Custom HTML / Liquid section adds your own HTML, Liquid or app snippet code to a Split page as a full section, with or without padding.

Applies to: Split 5.1.0 and later. Added in: Split 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Split 5.1.0.

The Custom HTML / Liquid section adds your own HTML, Liquid or JavaScript code to a page as a full-width section. Use it for an embed code from a third-party service or an app that gives you a snippet instead of an app block.

Where to find it: select Add section in the theme editor, then choose Custom HTML / Liquid.

Adding code

  • Paste the code into Custom Liquid. The section outputs it as it is, inside a full-width box.
  • No padding removes the padding the box has on all sides (80 px on screens wider than 1024 px, 40 px on tablets, 25 px on phones), so the code's content reaches the edges of the section.
  • You can add the section to page templates and to the Header and Footer groups, not to the Overlay group.
  • For code inside a Flex card or a Flex grid Text card, use the Custom Liquid block instead.

Krown support does not help with custom code. If the code comes from an app or a service, ask its developer; for your own code, see Custom work and code changes.

Why does the theme editor refuse to save my code?

Because the Liquid is not valid. Shopify checks the Liquid in this field when you save and shows an error until it is fixed. Plain HTML and JavaScript are not checked, so a broken script saves but may not work on the storefront.

Do I lose this code when I update Split?

No. The code is saved as a setting of the section in your page template, not in the theme files, so it is kept when you update the theme like any other section content. See Update Split.
