Split presets

Split presets: Cuber, Jagger and Looker, the three starting looks of the Split theme on the Shopify Theme Store, and how presets work.

Applies to: Split 5.1.0 and later. Added in: Split 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Split 5.1.0.

A preset is a starting look for Split: a set of Theme settings values and demo templates. Split has three presets on the Shopify Theme Store: Cuber, Jagger and Looker. You choose one when you add Split to your store.

Where to find it: the Split listing on the Shopify Theme Store shows the three presets. In your store, the preset values are in Theme settings and in the sections of each template.

What a preset changes

Every preset installs the same Split theme files: the same sections, blocks, settings and features. A preset sets only:

  • Theme settings values: colors, fonts and sizes, product card ratio and badges, cart type and free shipping notice.
  • The demo content of the templates: which sections the home page and the other templates show, with their settings.
  • Alternate templates: extra page, product and collection templates with demo sections, such as a lookbook page.
  • The section groups: what the Header, Footer and Overlay groups contain.

A setting that a preset does not change keeps the Split default. Any feature from one preset can be built in another: add the same sections and set the same values.

Can I switch presets later?

Not inside your theme. Split has no setting that applies another preset to an installed theme. To start from another preset, add Split again from the Shopify Theme Store and choose that preset: Shopify adds it as a new theme in your theme library. Your current theme, settings and content stay where they are, and nothing is merged between the two themes.

A new preset install is a separate theme with the demo settings of that preset. Duplicate your current theme first if you want to compare, and copy your own changes over by hand.

Which preset should I choose?

Choose by look, not by features: all three have the same sections and settings. Cuber is the plain default and the closest to the Split defaults. Jagger is darker and adds a FAQ page template. Looker has the most alternate templates, including a landing page and two extra product templates.
