Heading section

The Heading section shows a heading, text, button and line as a header for the sections below it in Split, with alignment and custom colors.

Applies to: Split 5.1.0 and later. Added in: Split 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Split 5.1.0.

The Heading section shows a large heading, a short text, a button and a line across the full width of the page. Use it as a title for the sections below it, or as a short message between two sections.

Where to find it: select Add section in the theme editor, then choose Heading.

Blocks

The section holds up to one block of each type, shown in the order you arrange them in the theme editor sidebar. A new Heading section starts with a Heading, a Text and a Button.

Heading

  • Heading sets the text.
  • Heading size sets how big it looks: Small, Regular (default) or Large.
  • Heading tag sets the HTML level search engines read (H2 by default). It does not change the size.

Text

  • Text is a rich text paragraph under the heading, with bold, italic and links.

Button

  • Button label and Button link add a solid button with an arrow.

Horizontal line

  • Adds a short line. It has no settings; move it in the sidebar to place it above or below the other blocks.

Alignment and colors

  • Text alignment puts the content on the left or in the center (default).
  • Background and Text under Custom colors replace the body colors from Colors theme settings for this section only. Leave them transparent to keep the theme colors.

The section is a full-width strip whose height follows its content, with generous space above and below. On phones and on tablets held upright it is half a screen tall.

Is this the old announcement bar?

Yes. The Heading section was called the "announcement bar" section in early Split versions. It is not the bar at the top of the store: that is the Announcement bar section in the Header group.

Can I add two headings or two buttons?

No. Each block type can be added once per Heading section. Add a second Heading section for more text, or use the Rich text section, which takes any number of Heading, Text and Button blocks.
