Announcement bar section
The Announcement bar section shows one or more short messages with links above the Split header, on all pages or only some of them.
Applies to: Split 5.1.0 and later. Added in: Split 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Split 5.1.0.
The Announcement bar section is the thin bar at the very top of your store, for short messages such as "Free delivery from 130 USD". Each message can link to a page.
Where to find it: Header group → Announcement bar
Adding announcements
Each message is a Content block. Select Add block → Content to add another one.
- Text is the message. Keep it to one short line: the bar is 34 px tall and the text is small.
- Link makes the whole message a link, for example to your shipping policy.
- Open link in a new window opens that link in a new browser tab. It shows only when Link is set.
With one block, the message sits centered in the bar. With two or more blocks, Split shows one message at a time with a previous and a next arrow on the sides. Customers click the arrows to read the other messages. The arrows stop at the first and the last message.
The announcement bar does not rotate by itself. Split has no autoplay or speed setting for it: customers move between messages with the arrows. For a moving message, add a Scrolling text section to the Header group instead.
Several announcements in one bar arrived in Split 4.0.0.
Where the bar shows
Visibility chooses the pages that show the bar:
- All pages (default).
- Homepage only.
- Product pages only: every page that uses a product template.
- All pages except the homepage.
To show different messages on different pages, add a second Announcement bar section to the Header group and give each bar its own Visibility.
Colors
The bar has its own colors and does not use Theme settings → Colors:
- Text color sets the message and the arrows.
- Background color sets the bar.
- Border color adds a 1 px line under the bar. Leave it transparent for no line.
Can I add the bar to the footer?
Yes. The Announcement bar section can be added to the Header group and to the Footer group. In the Footer group, select Add section → Announcement bar. It works the same way there.
Why does my announcement bar not show on some pages?
Because of Visibility. Homepage only and Product pages only hide the bar everywhere else, and All pages except the homepage hides it on the home page. Also check that the section is not hidden with the eye icon in the Header group.
