Breadcrumb section
The Breadcrumb section shows the path to the current page under the Split header. It has no settings; one theme setting adds collection names.

The Breadcrumb section shows a short path under the header, such as Home / Collections / Shirts / Linen shirt, so customers see where they are and can go back one level.

What the breadcrumb shows
The breadcrumb always starts with Home. The rest depends on the page:

- The breadcrumb does not show on the home page and on the 404 page.
- On a product page with a collection, the "Collections" step is hidden on phones and on tablets held upright, so the path stays short.
- The words Home, Collections, Blog, Search results, Cart and Account are theme texts. Change them in Online Store → Themes → … → Edit default theme content.
Collection names on product pages
A product page knows its collection only when the customer opened it from a collection: the collection is then part of the product's URL.
- Improve product breadcrumb navigation in Theme settings → SEO & performance (on by default) makes product cards link with the collection in the URL.
- It works for product cards on the collection page and in the Featured collection and Collection slider sections.
- Products opened from search, the cart or another section show the path without the collection.

Does the Breadcrumb section have settings?
No. The section has only a note in the editor: "The breadcrumb navigation doesn't appear on the homepage". Its text uses the body font and colors of your store. The only related setting is Improve product breadcrumb navigation, described above.
How do I hide the breadcrumb?
Hide the section. In the theme editor, point to Breadcrumb in the Header group and select the eye icon. The breadcrumb disappears from every page. Select the eye icon again to show it. Hide the section rather than remove it, so you can show it again later. The Looker preset installs with the breadcrumb hidden.
