Testimonials section
The Testimonials section shows up to 7 customer quotes with author name, title and avatar beside the section title in Split, and a slider on mobile.
Applies to: Split 5.1.0 and later. Added in: Split 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Split 5.1.0.
The Testimonials section shows up to 7 customer quotes, each with the author's name, title and avatar. On screens wider than 1024 px the section title stays on the left half while the quotes scroll past on the right half.
Where to find it: select Add section in the theme editor, then choose Testimonials.
Title and colors
- Title and Subtitle fill the left half. The title stays in place while the customer scrolls through the quotes beside it.
- Show author's avatar (on by default) shows a round avatar above each quote. A quote without an Author avatar image shows the first letter of the Author name instead.
- Background and Text under Custom colors replace the colors from Colors theme settings for this section only. Leave them transparent to keep the theme colors.
- Heading tag under SEO sets the HTML tag of the title for search engines (H2 by default). It does not change the size.
Adding testimonials
Select Add block inside the Testimonials section and choose Testimonial. The section takes up to 7 testimonials; the preset starts with 2.
Testimonial
- Quote is the testimonial text. It supports bold, italic and links.
- Author name is the name under the quote.
- Author title is a second, smaller line next to the name, for example "Customer" or a job and company.
- Author avatar is the photo above the quote. The editor asks for a 140 x 140 px PNG; Split crops it to a square and shows it as a 70 px circle.
Mobile layout
On phones and on tablets held upright the title sits above the quotes, across the full width.
- Turn into a horizontal slider on mobile devices (on by default) shows one quote at a time; customers swipe between them and dots show the position.
- With the checkbox off, the quotes stack one under the other.
Why does my avatar look blurry or cropped?
Because the avatar is cropped to a square from its center and shown at 70 px, or 140 px on sharp screens. Upload a square image of at least 140 x 140 px with the face in the middle.
Can I add more than 7 testimonials?
No. Split does not show more than 7 testimonials in one section. Add a second Testimonials section under the first one for more quotes.

Accepts these blocks: Testimonial (up to 7 blocks in the section).
Title (text field, default: "Testimonials").
Subtitle (text field, default: "Share your client's stories").
Show author's avatar (checkbox, default: on): Shows a 70 px round avatar above each quote: the Author avatar image, or the first letter of the Author name when there is no image.

Background (color, default: transparent): Sets the background color of the section. Leave it transparent to use the theme colors.
Text (color, default: transparent): Sets the text color of the section. Leave it transparent to use the theme colors.

Quote (rich text, default: "Add customer reviews and testimonials to showcase your store's happy customers.").
