Scrolling images section

The Scrolling images section moves a row of small images or logos across a Split page, at the speed and in the direction you set.

Applies to: Split 5.1.0 and later. Added in: Split 4.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Split 5.1.0.

The Scrolling images section moves a row of small images, such as logos or product shots, across the page without stopping. You set the speed, the direction and whether the row pauses under the mouse.

Where to find it: select Add section in the theme editor, then choose Scrolling images.

Adding images

Select Add block inside the section and choose Scrolling item. Each item is one square tile, a quarter of the screen wide; the row repeats itself so it always fills the width of the screen.

Scrolling item

  • Image is the picture in the tile.
  • Image size (30 to 100 %, default 100 %) sets how much of the tile the image fills. At 100 % the image fills the square tile and is cropped to it. Below 100 % the whole image shows, centered and scaled to fit, which suits logos.
  • Link makes the tile clickable. On desktop a linked image zooms in slightly when the mouse is over it.
  • Open link in a new window opens the link in a new browser tab. It shows only when Link is set.

Speed and direction

  • Scroll direction moves the row to the Left (default) or to the Right.
  • Scroll speed (20 to 300, default 100) is the speed in pixels per second. On screens 768 px wide and narrower the row moves at two thirds of that speed.
  • Pause on mouseover (on by default) stops the row while the mouse pointer is over it, so customers can select a tile.

The row stops moving while the section is out of view and starts again when it scrolls back in.

How do I show logos without cropping them?

Set Image size below 100 %, for example 60 %. The logo then shows whole, centered in its tile. Transparent PNG logos look best, because the tile shows the section background around them.

Can I add text to the scrolling row?

No. The Scrolling images section shows images only. Use the Scrolling text section for a moving line of text.
