Shopify basics for Highlight stores

Applies to: Highlight 4.1.0 and later. Added in: Highlight 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Highlight 4.1.0.

Several Highlight features depend on things you set up in Shopify admin, not in the theme editor. This page lists them with the question each one answers and links the general guides in Shopify Basics, which apply to every Krown theme.

Metafields and filesCopy Anchor Link

• How do I show an icon and a short text above product images? Create the product metafields unique_feature.icon and unique_feature.title in Shopify admin → Settings → Metafields and metaobjects → Products. The steps are in Product card theme settings.
• How do I give each product its own tabs, features or images? Connect the product page blocks to product metafields with dynamic sources. See Using dynamic sources for unique product pages and the Product page.
• How do I show information that changes with the selected variant? See Using variant metafields in product pages.
• Where do I upload swatch images? In Shopify admin → Content → Files, named after the option value. See Color swatches.

Filters and searchCopy Anchor Link

• How do I add filters to collection pages? Filters are Shopify's, set up in the Shopify Search & Discovery app. Highlight shows them when Enable filtering is on. See Collection page.
• How do I choose related and complementary products? Product recommendations come from Shopify; the Search & Discovery app lets you pick them by hand. See Product recommendations section.
• How do I improve my store's SEO? See SEO settings in the theme and Optimize images and improve SEO. For Highlight's own settings, see SEO and performance theme settings.

Languages and marketsCopy Anchor Link

• How do I translate my store? See Translate your store into multiple languages.
• When do the language and country selectors appear? Only when your store has more than one published language, or more than one country or region in Shopify admin → Settings → Markets. Turn the selectors on in the Header section, the Announcement bar section or the Footer group.

• The checkout, payment methods and the express checkout buttons (Shop Pay, PayPal, Apple Pay) are controlled by Shopify, not by Highlight. Shopify decides which buttons show to each customer.
