Applies to: Highlight 4.1.0 and later. Added in: Highlight 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Highlight 4.1.0.

Short answers to general questions about Highlight: versions and updates, presets, colors and fonts, metafields, Shopify-owned features and support. Each answer links the page with the details.

Which Highlight version do I have?

Open Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes. Each Highlight theme in your theme library shows its version number. The newest version is Highlight 4.1.0, released 2026-09-24. See Update Highlight and What's new in Highlight.

How do I update Highlight?

Add the new version from the update notification in Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes, review the updated copy, then publish it. Shopify carries over your settings, sections and content. Code edits are carried over only when they do not conflict. See Update Highlight.

Can I switch to another preset?

Yes. Highlight comes with three theme styles: Highlight, Single and Brush. Duplicate the theme first, then choose another style in the theme editor's Theme settings. Switching changes your Theme settings, such as colors and fonts, but keeps your sections and content. See Highlight presets.

Why are there so few color options?

Because Highlight is designed with a "less is more" idea. It is a theme with many asymmetrical elements, which need a clean page to stand out, so the store has one accent, one text and one background color. Highlight does not support colors for the header or the drawers; some sections and the cards of the Flex sections have colors of their own. See Colors theme settings and What Highlight does not do.

Can I use my own font?

Not with theme settings. Theme settings → Typography offers the fonts of Shopify's font library for headings, body text and testimonials. A font of your own needs custom code, which Krown support does not provide. See Typography theme settings and Custom CSS and code.

Which metafields does Highlight use?

Highlight reads a few product metafields directly:

  • unique_feature.icon and unique_feature.title for the unique product badges on product cards. See Product card theme settings.
  • Shopify's review metafields and some review apps' metafields for product ratings.
  • Shopify's product disclosures, in the Disclosures block. See Product page.

Most text and image settings also accept a dynamic source, so you can connect your own metafields to them in the theme editor. See Use dynamic sources for unique product pages.

How is Highlight built?

From sections and blocks. A section is a full-width area of a page; a block is one content element inside it. The Flex cards and Flex grid sections also hold cards and theme blocks. Store-wide settings are in Theme settings. See How Highlight is built.

How do I change a fixed theme text, such as "Add to cart"?

Open Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes → … → Edit default theme content and search for the text. See Shopify's guide Change the wording of your theme.

Is Highlight translated?

Yes. Highlight 4.1.0 includes storefront translations for 33 languages and the theme editor in 21 languages. To translate your own content, use Shopify's Translate & Adapt app. See Translate your store into multiple languages.

Can I change the checkout page?

Only with Shopify's checkout settings. Shopify controls the checkout, not Highlight, and the theme has no checkout settings. Change the checkout look in Shopify admin → Settings → Checkout. See Shopify related FAQ.

What can Highlight not do?

See What Highlight does not do: every known limit of Highlight 4.1.0, with what to use instead.

Does Krown support make custom changes?

No. Krown support helps with theme settings, theme bugs and small CSS tweaks, but does not provide custom code work. See Custom work and code changes.

Where do I find answers for a specific area?
