Blog posts section

The Blog posts section shows 3 to 6 articles from one blog in Highlight, with featured images, date, author, excerpt and a link.

Applies to: Highlight 4.1.0 and later. Added in: Highlight 1.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Highlight 4.1.0.

The Blog posts section shows the latest 3 to 6 articles of one blog in a draggable row, with their featured images, title, date, author, excerpt and a link. Use it on the home page or any page to point customers to your stories.

Where to find it: Online Store → Themes → Customize → Add section → Blog posts (Content category).

Choosing the articles

  • Blog picks the blog. The section shows its newest articles first.
  • Posts sets how many articles show, 3 to 6. Default: 4.
  • Show featured image shows each article's featured image above its text, cropped to 4:3. Articles without an image show a placeholder.
  • Show link to blog page adds an "All posts" link under the row that opens the blog.

Blocks

The blocks decide what each article shows under its image, in the order you put them. Each block can be added once. The section starts with Info and Title.

Title

Shows the article title, linked to the article.

Info

  • Show date shows the publishing date. Default: on.
  • Show author shows the author's name. Default: off.

Excerpt

Shows the article's excerpt. When the excerpt is empty, Highlight shows the first 15 words of the article.

Shows a "Keep reading" link to the article.

Why does the excerpt not show?

The section has no Excerpt block. Select Add block → Excerpt in the Blog posts section. The excerpt shows with or without featured images. To write a custom excerpt, open the article in Shopify admin → Content → Blog posts and fill in Excerpt.

Why does the section say there are no articles?

The selected blog has no published articles yet, or Blog is empty. Publish an article in Shopify admin → Content → Blog posts, then pick its blog in the section.
