Scrolling text section
The Scrolling text section shows text that scrolls sideways in Highlight, with speed, direction, size and color settings.
Applies to: Highlight 4.1.0 and later. Added in: Highlight 3.0.0. Last checked: 2026-10-13 against Highlight 4.1.0.
The Scrolling text section shows lines of text that scroll sideways by themselves, in a loop, like a news ticker. Use it for promotions, shipping offers or your brand's slogan. It works like the Scrolling images section, for text. Added in Highlight 3.0.0.
Where to find it: Online Store → Themes → Customize → Add section → Scrolling text (Promotions category).
Scrolling
- Scroll direction moves the text to the Left (the default) or to the Right.
- Scroll speed sets how fast it moves, 20 to 300. Default: 100. A higher number is faster; on screens up to 768 px wide the speed is a third slower.
- Pause on mouseover stops the text while a customer's pointer is over it. Default: on.
- Text size sets Large (the default) or Extra large.
Text color
Text colors the scrolling text and its links. It is transparent by default, which means the store text color from Colors theme settings.

Each Scrolling item is one piece of text in the row. Add several for a longer row.
- Scrolling text is the text. It supports bold, italic and links, for example to a sale collection.
Can I put the scrolling text above the header?
Yes. The Scrolling text section can also be added to the Header group. In the theme editor, select Add section in the Header area and choose Scrolling text, then drag it above the Header. For short messages with a link, language and country selectors, the Announcement bar section is made for that place.

Accepts these blocks: Scrolling item.
Scroll direction (dropdown, default: Left): Sets the direction in which the text moves. Options: Right, Left.
Scroll speed (slider 20 to 300, step 10, default: 100): Sets the scrolling speed. A higher number is faster; on screens up to 768 px wide it is a third slower.
Pause on mouseover (checkbox, default: on): Stops the text while the pointer is over it.
Text size (dropdown, default: Large). Options: Large, Extra large.

Text (color, default: transparent): Sets the color of the scrolling text and its links. Transparent uses the store text color.

Scrolling text (formatted text, default: "Introduce product promotions . Write about your brand. Flash deals!"): Sets one piece of text in the scrolling row. Supports bold, italic and links.
